2015 Cynopsis Digital Model D Awards: WWE on YouTube

OUR STRATEGY

The action of WWE doesn’t end when the final bell rings on WWE Raw or when the credits roll on Total Divas. It continues on WWE on YouTube where WWE’s worldwide fan base can catch up on match highlights, enjoy original content and series from their favorite Superstars, and even live-streaming content from some of WWE’s biggest events, including WrestleMania.

STRATEGY & TACTICS

WWE’s YouTube channel offers exciting highlights from WWE’s many television properties, as well as clips from our expansive library of sports-entertainment action (reaching well beyond WWE’s own history to include various other regional and international promotions).

The greatest audience engagement, however, comes from our original content. Our “Backstage Fallout” series goes backstage at our biggest events to capture interviews with Superstars and Divas moments after they stepped through the curtain after a big match. The best and worst of WWE is ranked three times a week in our “Top 10” series, with episodes regularly generating more than one million views in three days. Weekly originals like “5 Things” and “WWE Fury” have generated loyal fanbases of their own.

WWE on YouTube also presents monthly pay-per-view Kickoff shows, live and streaming free. These programs provide in-ring action, exclusive interviews with WWE Superstars and Divas, as well as social interaction around the night's pay-per-view event.

EXECUTION

WWE has producers on the ground at our biggest events, creating unique video content exclusively for the YouTube audience. Content that supplements our televised programming is regularly uploaded to YouTube while the show airs live, offering a truly immersive “second screen” experience.

Our original series launch on the same day and time every week, making the channel appointment viewing for many of our users. The staggering wealth of content on the channel keeps them entertained after their favorite show is done. All told, 20,000 clips have been uploaded to WWE on YouTube since launch.

OUR RESULTS

WWE on YouTube has generated 1.7 billion views in the second quarter of 2015. That number is up 98% compared to the same quarter last year.

And with more than seven million subscribers, our YouTube channel sits ahead of similar brands like IGN, HBO, ESPN and UFC.
